Welcome!

I'm James Maxey, the author of numerous novels of fantasy and science fiction. I use this site to discuss a wide range of topics, with a heavy emphasis on cranky, uninformed rants about politics and religion and other topics that polite people attempt to avoid. For anyone just wanting to read about my books, I maintain a second blog, The Prophet and the Dragon, where I keep the focus solely on my fiction. I also have a webpage where both blogs stream, with more information about all my books, at jamesmaxey.net.

Announcing Anarchy Books!

I'm turning today's blog post over Andy Remic, a fellow Solaris author with a truly dizzying array of books. Now, as if being an amazingly prolific writer wasn't enough, he's decided to be a multi-media publisher as well! I'm giving him this blog space to help spread the news:

My name's Andy Remic, I'm the author of various SFF/thriller novels like Kell's Legend for Angry Robot Books, and the recent Solaris novel, Cloneworld, and James has kindly allowed me to hijack his blog to bring you news of my new publishing venture, ANARCHY BOOKS. ANARCHY BOOKS is a radical new publishing company aiming to publish books, albums, films and video games, many of which share the same concept or story. Most books will be published in electronic formats, but there will be limited edition paperback runs as well.

Take our first release, Serial Killers Incorporated, which has just been published and is available now. There's a novel about Callaghan, a hard-drinking, drug-fuelled, womanising no-good son-of-a-bitch. A photographer for Black & White, a rabid tabloid rag, Callaghan’s in way too deep with Mia, his Mexican girlfriend and Sophie, estranged wife to Vladimir “Vodka” Katchevsy, infamous Romanian gun-runner and killer. At the nadir of his downward spiral, Callaghan is approached by a man: a serial killer who brings him a very unique and dangerous proposition. This novel is also released with its own accompanying album, a soundtrack by Nine Inch Nails-inspired indie band th3 m1ss1ng. Both album and novel share concept and even some text/lyrics, and were developed together.

In the future, we're publishing full novels by well-known popular novelists Jeffrey Thomas, Gary McMahon, James Lovegrove, Eric Brown, and Tony Ballantyne, along with some very high caliber newcomers, such as Vincent Holland-Keen and Alex Caine Duncan.

We're also releasing an anthology, VIVISEPULTURE, twisted weird tales in the tradition of Kafka, Poe and Borges, and again have some wonderful writers involved in this project, such as Neal Asher, Stan Nicholls, Steven Savile, Ian Watson, Ian Whates and Conrad Williams, with artwork created by Vincent Chong.

Serial Killers Incorporated is currently on special offer at Amazon for $1.83 (for a very limited period only!), and we're also looking for submissions and partners to collaborate on tie-in films, video games and music albums.

Check out www.anarchy-books.com for more information, and thank you to James for giving us a platform!!

James,

Congratulations on the sale of the new trilogy! That's great news! I'm very happy for you!

I hope everything else is going well. Hope we'll cross paths again before too long.

I don't think I have your current email or contact info. If you want to share it with me, you can reach me at jcavelos@sff.net

Best,

Jeanne
